Sponsor Our Event!

East Lake Fire Rescue will be holding their 7th Annual *Virtual* 5k Run/Walk for Charity on October 24th, 2020 at 8am.  Most of the proceeds of this event will benefit various local charities, including the Children’s Burn Foundation and Joshua House, and families in need that our firefighters may come across throughout the year.  Last year over 500 registrants attended our event.  We count on community members, organizations, and companies to join our forces as either a sponsor or registrant to make this wonderful event come to life.  Check out our Sponsorship Form for more information on our sponsorship levels.

This year we have decided to dedicate our event to Craig Metzger, the owner of Taekwondo Center for Excellence at Ridgmoor Commons.  Craig has been a huge supporter of our event throughout the years and made it mandatory requirement for his students to run our 5K Run/Walk as part of their promotional belt test.  Craig is the reason why our 5K’s child age-group has grown as much as it has the past few years. Our department members would see Craig and his students about a month before our 5K running around the lake by 57 to prepare for our event. Unfortunately, Craig was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.  He has two teenage children and a 33 year old son and has often been unable to work at his taekwondo school and his 2nd job as a Commercial Real Estate Associate with Kein and Heuchan due to his diagnosis last Summer and could really use some financial support. He has supported our event in such a humble way, without expecting anything in return, he is simply a huge supporter of the East Lake community and of our Fire Department. It’s our honor to have the opportunity to help support him in return this year.

The Children’s Burn Foundation of Florida, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of children who have suffered severe burn injuries. Made up of representatives from local fire service organizations, hospitals, and businesses, Children’s Burn Foundation provides special programs which focus on assisting children and their families in rehabilitation, social adjustment, and motivation.

Joshua House is a safe haven for these abused, abandoned, and neglected children, offering a therapeutic residential group care program that provides a protected, nurturing, family-like environment for children six - seventeen. These children have been removed from their homes due to crisis and many have been through multiple foster homes.

This is a reoccurring fun event for the community and other public safety agencies. We are currently working on obtaining materials to stuff 500 goody-bags which we will provide to all runners/walkers.  We are hoping to obtain various samples of products, goods and/or coupons. If you are interested in contributing goody bag items, please contact us.  Goody bag items are due 10/11/20.  To register for the event, please visit:
