SR 580 valves: Repairs to begin next week
Repair work will begin Wednesday, June 22
Pinellas County crews have continued monitoring and will begin the repair of two water main valves in the southbound lanes of McMullen Booth Road at the intersection of State Road 580 in Clearwater on Wednesday, June 22. Repair work is anticipated to be completed by Wednesday, June 29, barring any inclement weather delays. The leaking water is not presently creating a structural problem to the roadway.
The repair of these valves will require closure of portions of the southbound lanes on McMullen Booth Road and westbound lanes on State Road 580. Due to project planning and the impact to traffic, Pinellas County opted to delay repair efforts until after peak springtime traffic and school year related traffic ended.
Pinellas County Utilities amended the original plan to complete repairs in two operations and will now complete both repairs simultaneously. Roadway informational signs are placed on both State Road 580 and McMullen Booth Road.
No Pinellas County Utilities water customers are anticipated to experience service disruption during the repairs. Additional updates will be posted online at www.pinellascounty.org/utilities.
