Public Safety Events
East Lake Fire Rescue reached over 13,880 community members in 2017 to provide seasonal information including: Walk, bike and ride to school safety sheets, Natural Disaster Prevention newsletters, water safety bags, Halloween Safety tips, Holiday Safety handouts and Poison Prevention information.

Child Safety Seat Inspection and Installations
The East Lake Fire District offered Child Safety Seat Inspections and Installations by National Child Passenger Safety Certified Technician, PEO Faiola.  A total of 29 seats were inspected and installed in 2017.  PEO Faiola also attended a preschool car seat event in which all parents were invited to have their car seats checked and adjusted if necessary.

Touch a truck Program:
East Lake Fire Rescue completed 16 touch a truck events at various locations within the district including: Publix, Neighborhood Walmart Market, Toymakers Open House and East Lake High School.  East Lake Fire Rescue crew connected with over 1,088 residents during these Touch-a-Truck events  in 2017.

CPR Classes

East Lake Fire Rescue Training Site Instructors provided 51 classes and certified 395 students  in 2017.  CPR classes were also offered at various locations including Nielsen Media Research where over 100 employees were instructed on the AHA Hands-only technique.  Hands-only students do not obtain a certification.

National Fire Prevention Month
In October, East Lake crews delivered public education presentations to over 800 children  in 2017.  The children were educated on the unified NFPA and USFA  2016 Fire Prevention message “Don’t wait, check the date” by the on-duty crews.  The schools visited included Brooker Creek Elementary, Cypress Woods Elementary, Excel Learning Center, Leap Forward Academy, Oak Crest Preschool, Young Days and East Lake Middle School.

Santa Truck Program

The 2017 Annual Santa Truck Program provided visits from Santa to over 1,750 children and families over a 12-night period.  Volunteers provided Holiday Safety handout to the adults at each stop.
